dating mistakes

If you want to meet someone and have decided to go online on websites like Victoria Hearts or coffee meets bagel. That’s a good move — proactive and forward-thinking. But you need to be careful not to be lulled into habits that will undermine your online dating experience.

Here are some tips to avoid the mistakes that most people make while dating online.

1. Don’t fall for the pictures.

It is easy to get deceived on the Internet. So keep your expectations low and don’t set expectations beyond a certain level. While searching for a date online, you should research the person just like you do to buy some products online.

If you are looking for a real person for a long term relationship then you need to act mature and don’t fall crazy over the pictures. If you are in Vietnam then you can get more information about marrying a Vietnamese woman and what factors you should consider.

2. Don’t obsess about the details.

Don’t obsess about the details a person has given in his bio on a dating website. Not everyone in this world has the same taste as yours. That’s why you need not become consumed with the idea that someone out there corresponds exactly to all your tastes and preferences.

3. Evaluate the tone of the profile.

It is truly difficult to find out and get a sense of what the person is like. So there is a way you can figure it out buy reading between the lines to get a sense of whether the person seems well-adjusted, pleasant, friendly and reasonable, and someone you would be drawn to if you met him or her in person.

You need to look closely for signs of boastfulness, snideness or bitterness.

What’s actually important in evaluating a profile is its tone. You want to try and get a sense of what the person is like, which can be truly difficult.

4. Ignore claims about personality.

You will see people make many claims like “I have a good sense of humor” or “I am very optimistic and hardworking”. You need to ignore all such claims. This is not the only thing that is required for a good relationship.

A funny person would have a funny profile instead of writing in the profile that he is a funny person. He/she would cut a joke in the profile rather than claiming to be humorous.

5. Don’t get attached based on a profile.

It doesn’t matter how attractive and well written a profile is you should not get attached based on just profile. You can’t get a clear idea about a person until you meet him or her in person.

You will know a more realistic aspect of the person in the actual meeting so don’t get attached based on a profile only.

6. Don’t construct a fantasy after two dates.

This is the thing that you shouldn’t do this offline either. The chances to fantasize can be even greater when you’ve met someone online. Once you see a profile that has everything you are looking for then you start fantasizing the future. Again the answer is the same, you should not set expectations until you actually meet a person.
